Mary Cecelia Oliver, 95, died on October 15th, 2014 at the Mayflower in Lexington, VA.

Born Mary Cecelia Pickett on April 30th, 1919, in Independence, MO, she graduated from Northeast High School and attended Drake University. She was a beloved wife and mother and a long-time member of Nativity of Mary parish in Independence. Her devotion to church work included many years as a Eucharistic minister and altar society president. In Lexington, where she moved in 2009 to be near family, she belonged to St. Patrick’s church.

Mary Cecelia is survived by her son, Bill, his wife Elizabeth, their sons Will, Nat, and Ned, and two additional grandchildren, Thomas and Megan Oliver. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Billie, and her son Tom.

Visitation will be from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39th St. Independence, MO 64055. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 7, 2014 at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church; 10021 E. 36th terr S. Independence, MO 64052. Burial to follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to Catholic Charities.
