Henry Kurtz Olson, 87, of Independence, died May 20, 2006 at MCI Hospital. Mr. Olson will lie in state at St. Mark�s Catholic Church on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. where a Prayer Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mark�s Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery. Mr. Olson was born in Vineland, New Jersey on August 3, 1918 the son of C.V. "Hugo� and Flora Barbara (Kurtz) Olson. He was raised in Millville, New Jersey. Henry was a manager for TG&Y Department Store at Independence and Prospect for over 25 years, retiring in 1983. He was a skilled musician playing several instruments by ear. He enjoyed fishing, dancing, going to the ocean, Royal�s games and time with his family. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor. Mr. Olson was a Tech 4th Grade with the 581st Signal Air Warning Battalion during World War II. He was a member of St. Mark�s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council #4613. Mr. Olson married Marguerite L. Bruegging on January 7, 1944 in Richmond, VA. She survives of the home. He is also survived by six children: Barbara Suzanne "Suzie� Sifuentes and husband Robert of Gladstone, Mo., Karen L. Devero and husband Michael of Kansas City, Mo., Eric K. "Rick� Olson and companion Janice O�Connor of Pleasant Hill, Mo., Laurie J. "Peachie� McClain and husband Mitchell of Lee�s Summit, Mo., John Henry Olson and wife Meg of Kansas City, Mo., Mark A. Olson and wife Diane of Independence, Mo., eighteen grandchildren and thirty-two great grandchildren, and three sisters-in-law. Mr. Olson was preceded in death by a daughter, Maija Adams on July 6, 1966. The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Mark�s Building Fund. Online condolences to www.speakschapel.com.
