Marguerite Lucille “Margot” Olson, of Independence, MO and recently of Gladstone, MO passed away on June 1, 2022. She lived a full 101 years. A visitation will be held from 10:00-10:45am with The Rosary at 10:45am on Wednesday, June 8th, 2022. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00am, all at St. Mark Catholic Church, 3736 S Lee's Summit Rd, Independence, MO 64055. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Raytown, MO.
Margot was born on October 8, 1920, in Kansas City, MO to Lawrence and Marguerite S. (Ratel) Bruegging. Her family returned to the US, after living in Paris, France for 8 of her childhood years from 1926 to 1934. On January 7, 1944, Marguerite married the love of her life, Henry Kurtz Olson and together they made a house a home. Margot excelled in her role as wife and mother, as she also helped Henry at TG&Y Department Store, where he was a manager for over 25 years.
Margot was a skilled seamstress, tending to alterations from anyone that needed her assistance. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching the Royals and spent many enjoyable moments traveling with Henry. They loved taking trips to Hawaii, Florida, Texas and the Middle East.
She is survived by 5 children: Barbara Suzanne “Suzie” Sifuentes and husband Robert of Gladstone, MO., Karen Devero and husband Mike of Kansas City, MO., Laurie J. “Peachie” McClain and husband Mitchell of Independence, MO., John Henry Olson and wife Meg of Kansas City, MO., and Mark A. Olson and wife Diane of Independence, MO.; her sister, Rosemary Wilson of Jefferson City, 17 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by daughter, Maija Adams, son, Eric K. “Rick” Olson; grandson, Shawn Patrick Devero; sister, Dorothy Day, and brother, Raymond Bruegging.
