Larry Wayne O’Neal, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2022. He was 73 years old. Larry was born on October 4, 1948, in Bakersfield, California to William and Effie O’Neal.
Larry enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1966 and served in the Vietnam War for 6 years before being honorably discharged. Once home, he worked for Kern County Parks and Recreations Department as a heavy equipment operator and raised his two daughters Melissa and Stacy. He married the love of his life Dawn, and together they raised their son Alex and stepson Adam. In his free time Larry enjoyed his cigars, watching John Wayne westerns and loved listening to new and old country music. He had a soft spot for dogs and especially adored his girl, Charley, a sweet little Yorkee.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, William O’Neal and Effie Dodgen. His survivors include his wife, Dawn, three children, Melissa (Perry), Stacy (Lyle), Alex (Ashleigh), stepson Adam. Six grandchildren, Breanna, Zachary, Shay, Stilez, Maddox and Memphis, and three great-grandchildren, Charly, Declan and Tucker.
A visitation will be held at Speaks Suburban Chapel (18020 E 39th Street, Independence, Missouri, 64055) on Sunday, March 27th from 9:00 a.m to 11:00 a.m. Larry will be laid to rest at Bakersfield National Cemetery in Bakersfield, California at a later date.
