James William “Jim” Orr, Jr, 74, passed away on August 29, 2015.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2015, from 5-8pm, at Woods Chapel United Methodist Church, 4725 NE Lakewood Way, Lee's Summit, MO 64064. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 4, at 10:00am at the church. A private burial service will be held at a later date in Moberly, MO.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Woods Chapel United Methodist Church in his honor.
Jim was born on August 27, 1941, in Moberly, MO, to James William “Dub” Orr, Sr. and Thelma Lee (Moore) Orr. He graduated from Moberly Senior High School and later received his Bachelor’s Degrees in Business and History. In May of 1981, he started his own company, Mechanical Breakdown Protection (MBP Network) of Lees Summit, a national service contract provider to the automotive industry. His family remembers him as a self-made man with an incredible work ethic, who always made time for his grandchildren, family, and friends. He enjoyed his horses, golfing, fishing, and was an avid KC Royals fan.
His survivors include son, Kevin Orr and wife Christina; daughter, Deborah Orr; grandchildren, Amanda White, Taylor Politte, Lindsey Orr, Ryan Visser, Dirk Visser, and C.J. Visser; brothers, Bill Orr and Jerry Orr; and numerous family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, James W. “Dub” Orr Sr. and Thelma Lee (Moore) Orr; and brother, Jay Moore.
