Jerry E. Osborn, 81, Independence, MO passed away Saturday, March 24, 2012.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Carson-Speaks Chapel; 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Burial to follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with a Masonic service at 6:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association.
Jerry was born May 9, 1930 in Seymour, IA the son of Theodore Robert and Ethel Mae (Casteel) Osborn. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. Jerry served 23 years with the City of Independence Fire Department retiring in 1975. He later worked for Orscheln’s as a delivery driver. Jerry was also employed with Lake City Ammunition and the Kansas City School District. He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge #76 and a past member of the American Legion. Jerry enjoyed hunting, gardening, collecting antique cars and model cars and he loved his dogs.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Ward Osborn and his parents.
Survivors include his loving wife Mona Osborn of 42 years; daughter, Wendy Gambell; son, Michael Osborn; grandchildren, Kerri Atwood, Kelli Lewis and Aaron Gambell; great grandchildren, Kaitlun Atwood, Ashtun McLaren, Tayten Lewis and Chloe Beltran.
