Leon Jacob Otten, 88 of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away Sunday, May 30, 2021 at his residence. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 3, 2021 at St. Mark Catholic Church 3736 S. Lee’s Summit Rd., Independence, MO 64055 with entombment to follow at Mt. Calvary Mausoleum in Kansas City, KS. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m., until service time Thursday at the church. Donations may be made in his name to the Sister of St. Francis of the Holy Eucharist, 2100 N. Noland Rd., Independence, MO 64050. Leon was born May 25, 1933 in Greeley, KS to Carl A. and Anna (Lichtieg) and has been a longtime area resident. He graduated from Ward High School and had attended Donnelly Junior College and Rockhurst University. He proudly served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He had worked in the poultry and egg business from 1957-84 and had been and advisor for Moarck. He fully retired in 1998. In retirement he worked for the Sister of St. Francis of the Holy Eucharist. He enjoyed boating, fishing and spending time at the lake. He was a longtime member of St. Mark Catholic Church. He is survived by; his wife Carole Gran of the home; a son, Steve Otten, a daughter, Karen Miller and husband Carl, a sister, Dorothy Speckin and 3 grandchildren, KC Miller, Coree Miller and Melissa Otten. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Bernadine (McCoy) Otten in 2004 and 2 sons, Joseph and Gregory.
