Maurice Roderick Palms, 79, Independence MO, passed away Friday, March 12, 2004, at Independence Regional Health Center in Independence MO. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, March 23, 2004, at St. Mark�s Catholic Church; burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. There will be a rosary at 7:00 P.M., Monday evening at Speaks Suburban Chapel where the family will greet friends following the rosary until 8:30 PM. Maurice was born March 22, 1924, in Wadena, MN, the son of August and Mary (Kiefer) Palms. He served his country during WWII with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater. In 1948 he was united in marriage to Dorothe Agness Ferguson in Kansas City, MO and they lived the majority of their lives in Independence, MO. He was employed at the General Motors Fairfax Plant for 35 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothe, his parents, and one brother, Bernard Palms. He is survived by his only child, Shila Dawdy, and her husband Samuel Dawdy, Overland Park, KS; one granddaughter, Caitlin Dawdy, Overland Park, KS; two brothers, Armund Palms, Rochester, NY, and Owen Palms, Austin, TX; and one sister, Sheila Sellmeyer, Glasgow, MO.
