Jana Starr Paris, 72 of Independence, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2013, in the Rosewood Health Center.
A celebration of life service is planned at 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 1, 2013 in the Stone Church; 1012 W Lexington Ave, Independence, MO 64050 The family will greet guests from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Saturday, August 31, 2013, at Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Community Service League, 404 Noland Road, Independence, MO 64050.
Jana was born on January 9, 1941, in Independence, the daughter of James and Carma (Moore) Worrel. She was united in marriage on November 27, 1959, to Myron Paris and to this union four children were born. Jana was a graduate of William Chrisman High School.
She was a member of the New Hope Community of Christ Church. She was active in her community and loved to help those less fortunate. She had a huge heart and would help anyone. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, musicals, traveling and was passionate about playing the piano and guitar. Jana was a lifelong resident of Independence and was very devoted in helping her husband, Myron get elected to Independence City Counsel so that they could give back to the community.
Jana is survived by the love of her life of 53 years, Myron Paris, of the home in Independence; two sons, Kenny Paris and his wife Stacey, Lake Lotawana; Jeff Paris and his wife Susan, Lake Tapawingo; two daughters, Myra Faith and her husband Craig, Lee’s Summit; Jill Brown and her husband John, Independence; 17 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce Richardson, Blue Springs; and Doria Curtin, Independence; two brothers Jerry Worrel, Oak Grove; Joe Worrel, OK; and many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Patsy Swartz.
