Ruth Parker, 92, of Independence, MO passed away Sunday, September 2, 2018. A visitation will be held from 1-2pm on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St, Independence, MO, 64055. A service will follow at 2pm at the chapel.
Ruth was born on October 22, 1925 to Frank and Esta Leota (Curtis) Ream. She lived her entire life in Independence and during her senior year of high school she met and married Orban W. Parker, Sr. before he left for the service. Upon his return, they ran several restaurants together including The Capri. During their 73 years of marriage they raised 2 wonderful children together, they would welcome anyone into their home that they could help, and most importantly they shared a lot of love.
She will be remembered by her daughter Nancy Gervy and husband Larry of Blue Springs, MO; sister Mary Ream of Missouri; grandchildren Tracy Hazen (Mike), Debbie Scanlon (Pat), Orban Parker III, Tim Gervy (Kelly), Dan Gervy (Stephanie), Jennifer Zorich (Bret), and Heather Williams (Patrick); great-grandchildren Zach and Aaron Hazen, Draily and Jack Scanlon, Justice and Tristan Parker, Morgan, Justin and Trevor Gervy, Caitlyn Candillo, Frankie Gervy, Emma Gervy, Emily, Elizabeth, and Sophia Zorich, and Nicholas Williams; plus several other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband Orban, Sr. and son Orban, Jr. in 2017.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
