Melvin Ray Parker, 49, Independence, MO passed away Monday, August 4, 2014.
Melvin was born March 23, 1965 in Kansas City, MO the son of Lewis W. and Evelyn (Prewitt) Parker. He worked for over 20 years with Reintjes Construction Company before going to work for North Kansas City Hospital in environmental and receiving services for the last eight years. Co-workers enjoyed working with Melvin and was selected as Employee of the Month in 2011. Melvin was baptized in 2008 and was a faithful member of Englewood Church and volunteered monthly with The Mega Market. He enjoyed being outdoors either on his four-wheeler, fishing or hunting.
Melvin was preceded in death by his father, Lewis Parker, Sr.; sister, Ollie Edwards; and a niece, Melina Edwards.
Survivors include his loving wife, Sherl Parker; mother, Evelyn Parker; sister, Cathy Morrison and her husband David; brother, Lewis Parker, Jr., and his wife Donna; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, and great great nieces, nephew who he loved all dearly.
A memorial visitation will be 1:00-3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Englewood Church; 10628 E. Winner Road, Independence, MO 64052. Memorial service will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the church.
