Ines Elaine Parks passed away peacefully at her home in Independence, MO on Tuesday, November 10, 2020. She was born May 11, 1933 in Richford, Vermont to Amara St. Onge and Bessie Hogaboom.
Ines was a passionate, independent woman who loved a good laugh, appreciated the simple things in life, and found immense beauty in the world. She often sang a song to start the day, ate a cucumber sandwich for lunch, watched endless hours of news while sitting in her chair, and played with and cared for her feisty cat Samantha. She had an amazing sense of humor and a love for a good margarita and Tom Collins.
She was a collector of many things: dishes, rocks, books, and clocks topped the list. She and her late husband, Clester, shared many passions and antiquing was one of them. They traveled the U.S. and collected treasures that would ended up meticulously displayed throughout her home. Since moving to the KC area, she missed her friends from Central Missouri and often talked about coffee at McDonald’s, grocery shopping at HyVee, and the old days of walking at the mall with friends.
She is survived by her grandchildren Michele Keele and husband of Columbia, MO, Angeline Harkins of Independence, MO, Scott Harkins of California, MO, Liza Harkins of Grandview, MO, Simon Harkins and wife of Prosper, TX, Amie Ayers of Tipton, MO, Joshua Harkins and wife of Tipton MO; 12 great grandchildren and dear friend Patricia Johnson. Ines is preceded in death by her sons Donald Harkins and Douglas Harkins; husband Robert Clester Parks, sister Shirley Allard and dear friend Lorraine Phillips. Cremation is planned and no services are scheduled at this time. Online condolences may be expressed at www.speakschapel.com (Arrangements: Speaks Suburban Chapel 816-373-3600)
