Harold Eugene “Harry” Parr, 80, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013 from pancreatic cancer at KU Medical Center.
He was born August 10, 1932 in Detroit, MI the son of John Franklin and Flora Mae (Stembridge) Parr. His family moved to Kentucky when Harry was 11 years old; and later to Blue Springs, MO in 1946 where he lived, graduated from high school and raised his family. Harry worked as a Management Consultant for the steel building industry for many years. He retired in 1997. Harry and Nancy were married in 2004, and lived in Independence where they were members of St. Paul United Methodist Church. He was a long time member and supporter of Alcoholics Anonymous, and was an avid sports enthusiast, earlier as a participant and coach and later as a fan.
Survivors include his loving wife, Nancy Parr. Together they had nine children, Hal Parr, Susan Stevens, Bob Parr, Becky Bryant, Steve Parr, Dan Fleming, Jennifer Fleming, and Bill Hart; 17 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; brothers, John and Doug Parr; sister, Judy Eldridge; and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by two grandsons, Robert Parr, Jr. and Patrick Parr.
Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at St. Paul United Methodist Church; 3701 S. Sterling Ave, Independence, MO 64055. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church. In
lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Alcoholics Anonymous, Blue Springs Chapter or the American Cancer Society.
