Lou Etta was born Nov. 13, 1928, to Earl and Anna Tarvin of Marysville, KS. As one of 16 children, she left home at 13 to live with her sister’s family in Kansas City. She graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1946 and in 1948 married Alvin “Bud” Parr. Lou Etta worked briefly at a bowling alley where she set up pins, at the telephone company, and then spent 39 years at KCP&L before retiring. “Mimi", as she was dearly referred to, loved spending time with family, especially her daughters and their families. She enjoyed playing cards (the ongoing game of gin at the kitchen table with Bud). Together they loved boating at the Ozarks and cross-country road trips in their RV.
She was an excellent seamstress lending her talents to the Needle Guild of the Ararat Shrine Temple. Lou Etta also sewed an array of dresses and holiday items. She was known for her great sense of humor, ability to find the good in everyone and everything, and enjoyment of gardening and KC sports teams. Lou Etta earned the 8- gallon blood donor pin from the Red Cross and was a member of the KCP&L retirement group, the 25th Century Club.
She left this world a better place because of her caring spirit, incredible work ethic, and vivacious personality. Lou Etta was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 61 years, 15 siblings, grandson Markus Harrison, and many other loved ones. She is survived by her daughters,Terry Waits; Joyce Ward (Ted); Vicki Peck (David); and Donna Harrison; 7 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
