Arthur J. “Art” Patient, of Independence, MO (formally of Lake Lotawana, MO), a man who loved to have fun and always brought his Bose stereo and lots of CD’s and mini disks to parties, passed away on January 30, 2022 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was 69 years old. Art was born on November 17, 1952 in Belleville, Illinois to Leonard and Mary Louise Patient. He graduated from Raytown High School in the class of 1973. In June of 1973, he married the love of his life, Mary Jane Pixler, and to this union a son was born: David. Art was a loving husband, father, brother and uncle. He worked in car stereo installation for almost 40 dedicated years, before retiring from Santa Fe Auto Sound in 2014. He enjoyed his work and made many good friends. Those that knew Art knew him as an ornery man, who loved to tease and play with people. He and Mary Jane attended so many music festivals and concerts together. Art always had pets that he adored. He loved his Collies, Annabelle and Lassie, as well as his parrots, Murphy, Bailey and Lucy. He enjoyed going to Knuckleheads in Kansas City every Sunday, especially when Levee Town was there. Art will always be remembered for his signature brisket that he made for every Royals opening day and Chiefs tailgating and he will be deeply missed by many.
He is survived by his wife of 48 and a half years, Mary Jane Patient; son, David Patient; nieces and nephews, Krisy Mortenson, Jennifer McGlynn, Michael Schaffner, Jessica Payne and Bobby Ray Brobst; and brother-in-law, Bill Prodney. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Mary Louise Patient; and siblings, Ruthie Lilley, Judy Patient Prodney, Karen Patient, Trudy Brobst, and Fred Patient.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Novus Hospice care and to The Villages of Jackson Creek Memory Care, for taking exceptional care of Art.
In honor of Art, put on your favorite record and dance like there’s no one watching and enjoy yourself!
