Patrick John Kenney, 61, of Sugar Creek, Missouri, passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 26, 2025. He was born on May 14, 1963, in Independence, Missouri, to Charles and Delores (Vinson) Kenney.
Patrick was a lifelong citizen of Sugar Creek, MO. Patrick graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Independence, MO. He was a member of Boy Scouts Troop 234 at St. Ann’s Church and a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say.
Patrick proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Army in the spring of 1982. He completed his basic training at Fort Knox, TN, before being assigned to a military base in Mannheim, Germany. Patrick spent a significant part of his service in Europe before finishing his military career at Fort Riley, KS, where he was a proud member of the Big Red One. He was honorably discharged in 1986.
After his military service, Patrick became a dedicated Technical and Manual Machine Operator at Kellogg’s in Kansas City, Kansas, where he worked for many years.
Outside of work and his service, Patrick had a deep love for music, particularly classic rock, which was his true passion. Music always brought him joy and was a constant in his life.
Patrick is survived by his siblings, Michael Kenney of Sugar Creek, MO; Anne Rudkin (Richard) of Kansas City, MO; and Sara Kenney of Sugar Creek, MO. He also leaves behind his beloved nephews, Jacob Kenney (Christine), Tyler Kenney (Sara), and Thomas Rudkin; niece, Hannah Rudkin; and Aunt Barbara (Kenney) Seiwald. Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Delores Kenney. Grandparents Walter and Charlotte Kenney and Clifford and Amanda Vinson.
He was loved by his Kenney cousins, many other cousins and friends, all of whom he cherished deeply.
Patrick will be dearly missed by his family and friends, who remember him for his kindness, work ethic, military service, and love of music.
A celebration of his life will be held on February 22, 2025 at Mike Onka Hall 11520 Putnam St, Sugar Creek, MO 64054 from 2 pm to 6 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Sugar Creek VFW 3976 12810 E Kentucky Rd, Sugar Creek, MO 64050.
