Margaret Joyce Patterson of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away peacefully in her home on May 26th, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Margaret grew up in Independence, MO where she met her husband, Vern Patterson. They were married for 76 joyous years and had two children, nine grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. They moved to Willow Road in Lees Summit in 1955 and Margaret was fortunate to pass in the same house she saw generations of her family grow. Known for her genuine kindness and generosity, those who knew Margaret understood she would never let you go cold or hungry in her presence. She knew no strangers nor judgment of others, and whether it was the last tea cake from breakfast or last dollar in her wallet, she never hesitated to do for others without regard for her own concerns. She was gentle, wise, and carried herself with a grace rarely seen in this life. If you met her, you knew she loved you. She was active in her church and was a member of Community of Christ Church of Lee’s Summit for over 60 years. Margaret is survived by her husband Vern Patterson, daughter Nancy Cartmill, son Rick Patterson (Susie), grandchildren: Kelly Bagby, Shawn Smith (Perry), Robert Bagby (Jacque), Josh Cartmill, Luke Cartmill, Shannen Patterson (Kristi), Meghan Carlile (James), Kathryn Myer (Brian) and Sam Patterson (Katie). Her great grandchildren, Amber Skibicki, Taylor Geneser, Dylan Berschauer, Daniel Bagby, Trentyn Robertson, Grace Bagby, Jocelyn Kettle, Paul Bagby, Caleigh Kettle, Rylan Myer, Anabelle Carlile, Maddox Myer, Killian Carlile, Daphne Carlile, Kyler Myer, Rosalie Cartmill, Yvette Carlile, Henry Cartmill, Briar Myer and Johanna Patterson, great-great-grandchildren: Bentleigh Skibicki and Blakely Geneser. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Bertha Hamm and Bob and Marie Pourie. brothers Paul, Walter and Bud, sisters Dorothy, Martha, Donna and Marie, and her son in law Larry Cartmill. A funeral service will be held on Sunday June 6th, 2021 at Community of Christ Church of Lee’s Summit. Visitation from 2pm to 4pm; funeral to follow at 4pm.
