Vern Patterson of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away peacefully in his home on Sept 9th, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Vern was born in Iowa and moved to Independence at a young age where he met his wife, Margaret Joyce Patterson (Hamm). They were married for 75 joyous years and had two children, nine grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. They moved to Willow Road in Lee’s Summit in 1956 and Vern was fortunate to pass in the same house he saw generations of his family grow. Vern was a Navy veteran and was very proud of the military. Vern was very active in scouts, serving as a troop leader and a district commissioner helping his son become an Eagle scout. Vern worked at Vendo for 25 years but finished his career working on lawn mowers, which was his passion. Vern was very committed to his family housing his mother and even sister-in-law when in need. Not to forget the multiple grandchildren that took solace under his roof at one point or another. Vern also loved the Lake of the Ozarks where he purchased multiple lots and even built a cabin himself where we all shared many memories and continue to do so today. Vern is survived by his daughter Nancy Cartmill, son Rick Patterson (Susie), grandchildren: Kelly Bagby, Shawn Smith (Perry), Robert Bagby (Jacque), Josh Cartmill, Luke Cartmill, Shannen Patterson (Kristi), Meghan Carlile (James), Kathryn Myer (Brian) and Sam Patterson (Katie). He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Patterson, his parents Russa and Russell Patterson, all of his brothers and sisters and his son in law Larry Cartmill.
