Marguerite Payton, 90, Independence, MO passed away Dec. 24, 2012. A memorial service will be at 2 pm, Sat., Dec. 29 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18022 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055; cremation. Visitation will begin at 1 pm before the service at the chapel.
Marguerite was born in Des Moines, IA May 1, 1922. She graduated from North High School in Des Moines and worked for Butternut Bread Company there for many years. In 1944, she married George Franklin. In 1946 they moved to California where she worked for the Mattel Toy Company for many years. In Dec. of 1982, she and George divorced. On Jan. 23, 1983 she married Eugene Payton and moved to Independence, MO where she lived the rest of her life. She loved music and line dancing at the Palmer Center in Independence. Her hobby was crocheting slippers and scarves which she shared as gifts to everyone.
Marguerite was preceded in death by daughter Georgeann Bleemers in 2005. She is survived by husband Eugene Payton, of the home; daughters Sandra Moonan, Olathe, KS; Barbara Pinion, Whittier, CA; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchilren.
