Cecil C. Peck, 80 of Independence, MO passed away Thursday, March 8, 2007 at his residence. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday March 10, 2007 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel. Entombment will be in Mt. Olivet Mausoleum. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until services time Saturday at the chapel. Donations may be made to the Wallace-Gillespie VFW Post #4958 123 W. Monroe St. Memphis, MO 63555. Cecil was born April 9, 1926 in Memphis, MO to Charles and Ada Peck. He had retired from Lake City Army Ammunition Plant as a scale mechanic in 1987. He also owned and operated Cecil�s Tavern in Independence for a number of years. He was a charter member of the Wallace-Gillespie VFW Post #4958 in Memphis, MO and had attended the Catholic Church. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII where he was awarded a Purple Heart and had lost his leg during combat. He was married to Mary J. Peck who preceded his in death in 1994. Survivors include; 2 daughters, Diana Zugenbuhler of Kansas City, MO and Theresa Bromley of Oak Grove, MO; 3 grandsons; 2 granddaughters; 3 great grandchildren; 5 sisters , a brother and longtime close friend Vienna Helms. He was preceded in death by his beloved son Charles Peck in 2005.
