Raymond Lee Peters, 75, of Independence, MO, passed away November 29, 2006. Services will be 10:00 am Monday, December 4, 2006 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Interment will be in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am until service time. Ray was born on February 13, 1931, one of 15 children born to Horace and Ruth Estelle (Mitts) Peters. After graduating high school, Ray served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge Ray moved to the Independence area. He then went to work for Sheafield Steel, later known as Armco, for 38 years, until his retirement. Left to mourn his passing is wife of 21 years, Marie, and son Brad Peters. Other survivors include stepchildren; Donna Rogers, Dixie Corbett, Kathy Woody, Bill Woody, Doug Woody, 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 3 sisters, and 2 brothers. Ray is preceded in death by his parents and 9 brothers and sisters.
