Delbert O. Peterson, 78 of Independence, MO, passed away Monday, December 1, 2014 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 5, 2014 at the Olean Cemetery in Olean, MO. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday evening at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Delbert was born July 28, 1936 in Eldon, MO to Lawrence and Jeanette (Coffman) Peterson. He had worked as a clerk for 46 years for the Burlington Northern Railroad before he retired in 1998. He enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, NASCAR and racing and had built his own cars. He is survived by; his wife of nearly 60 years, Jerretta of the home; 2 sons, Richard and Donald, a brother, Terry Peterson: a sister, Wanda Robbins and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
