Cheryl A. Phelps, 61, of Blue Springs, passed away in the early morning hours of Thursday, February 01, 2018, surrounded by her loved ones. A visitation will be held Tuesday, Feb 6th from 6-8pm with a funeral service on Wednesday, Feb 7th at 10:00am, both at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Cheryl was born January 9, 1957, to Ralph and Helen (Ludwig) Petty in Kansas City, MO where she also grew up and attended East High School. In 1988, Cheryl started working for the ATF. She worked her way up to Senior Investigator before retiring in Sept. 2017. While working for ATF, Cheryl went back to school at UMKC where she graduated with a degree in Liberal Arts in 2005. Cheryl married the love of her life, Chris Phelps on April 8, 1989. Their love of travel took them all over the US and abroad. In July 2016, a support puppy named Charli became Cheryl’s pride and joy. Cheryl was such a fun and friendly person who loved to entertain. She was known to throw the best Christmas parties. She loved being around her family and friends and always had the next event in mind. She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her beloved husband, Chris; her daughters, Holly Grant of Oak Grove and Heather Martin (Rob) of Holden; a son, Travis Grant of Oak Grove; a sister, Sandi Loving (Paul) of Independence; 7 grandchildren: David, Brooke, Colton, Alexis, Tristan, Jason and Trinity; and 1 great grandchild, Brendon.
