Tom Phelps, 72, of Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, January 20, at his home. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 24, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. The visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday at Suburban. Tom was born on October 17, 1931 in St. Louis, MO to Fred and Gladys Phelps. Tom loved golfing, fishing and spending time with his family at Stockton Lake. He graduated from the School of Pharmacy at the University of Kansas City. He owned Bogart and Brown Pharmacy, and later, was the Head Pharmacist at Loma Vista Pharmacy. Tom was a current member of the Rotary Club of Independence, and a former member of the Chamber of Commerce, as well as a former Vice President of the Missouri Pharmacy Association. He was also a founding member of the Missouri Pharmacy Buying Association. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Joan Phelps; two daughters, LeeAnn M. Scott and Laurie A. Brewer; one son, Jim Tom Phelps Jr.; and four grandchildren, Travis Michael Scott, Casey Lynn Scott, Felicia Marie Phelps and Dylan Thomas Phelps.
