Enna Ruth Phillips was born Enna Ruth Happy on November 16th 1931 in Noel,
Missouri where she spent her childhood years.
She was blessed with loving parents, Reuel and Gertrude Happy, and six siblings,
Rosalee Happy, Willa Gregory, Wanda Happy, Lynn Happy, Nancy Adams, and
Judy Sparks.
“Ruth” married James Phillips on June 4th 1965. They have enjoyed 56 years of
marriage and “Jim” misses her dearly.
She loved her three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Bill Glasco, Pam and
Bruce Hickam, Theresa and Rick Riddle. She was blessed with seven grandchildren
and thirteen (soon to be fifteen) great-grandchildren.
Ruth graduated from Excelsior Springs High School and has lived in the Kansas City
area all her adult life. She retired from Butler Manufacturing Company in 1995
after a thirty year career with the company. She attended First Baptist Church of
Independence for many years.
Her soul peacefully passed on August 16th 2021. She will be dearly missed by all
her family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Speaks Suburban Chapel (18020 E 39th Street
Independence, MO 64055) on Monday evening August 23rd from 5:00 to 7:00.
Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church of Independence (500 W
Truman Road Independence, MO 64050) on Tuesday morning August 24th at
10:00.
Her body will be laid to rest at South Point Cemetery in Orrick Missouri by her
parents’ side to await the day of resurrection of our Lord when her soul and body
will be reunited.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the KC Hospice House or the
First Baptist Church building fund. Donation envelopes will be available at the
visitation and funeral.
