Myrtle “Myrt” Phillips, 87, Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2013.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Mt. Washington Cemetery. A memorial luncheon will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Rockwood Baptist Church; 10035 Westport Rd, Independence, MO. 64052. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Missouri Baptist Children’s Home.

Myrtle Faye was born October 10, 1925 in Independence, MO where she lived most of her life. She worked in the business office of Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. for 43 years before retiring in 1986. She was a long time member of Rockwood Baptist Church where she served her Lord faithfully. Myrtle Faye worked primarily in the Children’s Sunday School Department.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Faye and George Phillips; two brothers, George and Robert Phillips; and sister, Ada Betts.

Survivors include her brother-in-law, Glenn Betts; four nieces; two nephews and their children. Myrtle Faye was a loyal and trusted friend to many, and a passionate advocate for animal rights.
