Virginia E. Phillips

Virginia E. "Virgie� Phillips, 89 of Independence, MO passed away Wed. Jul 21, 2004 at the Carmel Hills Living Center. Graveside services will be 11:00 am, Sat, Jul 24, 2004 at Woodlawn Cemetery. Mrs. Phillips will lie in state from 6 - 7:30 pm, Friday at the George C. Carson & Sons Funeral Home. Contributions are suggested to Odyssey Hospice. Virgie was born on May 21, 1915 to John and Bessie Sackman, in Independence, MO and was a lifelong resident. She was baptized in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Virgie had worked at Rubon Mop Inc. and then at the Lake City Ammunition Plant for 20 years, retiring in 1976. In 1936 She married August Herman who preceded her in death in 1941. She then married Hubert Phillips on Feb 26, 1946. He preceded her in death in 1970. Virgie was also preceded in death by her Parents, two sisters, June McCullough and Ruth Pond, two brothers, Myron Sackman and John (Herb) Sackman. She is survived by a brother, Vernon Sackman of Independence, MO. Three sisters, Vivian Smith of Butler, MO, Doris Lewis and husband Harry of Independence, and Clara Rice and husband Henry of Independence. Sister in law, Louis Sackman of Folsom, CA and by several nieces and nephews.
