Carroll Phipps

Carroll Phipps, 68, passed away May 28, 2007 at his home in Independence, MO. Memorial services will be 11:00 am Saturday, June 2, 2007 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. The family will greet friends from 9:00 am �" 10:30 am before the service. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Carroll was born on November 16, 1938 to Vernon and Loretta (Drummond) Phipps in Kirksville, MO. After high school he served in the Army, devoting 2 years to the service of his country. After his tour of duty, he went to work as a pipefitter for what was then Western Electric, where he remained for the next 30 years. Carroll thought very highly of his co-workers and enjoyed the years that he spent there. Carroll enjoyed his daily walks, visiting with people along the way, yard work, and fishing. He was a devoted Dad to his son Brett, and played a very active and supportive role throughout his life. Carroll also leaves his faithful and adoring wife of 47 years, Pat. He is predeceased by his father Vernon, father-in-law LaVern Snyder, and our angel, Dylan Miller. Survivors include his wife Pat Phipps of the home; son Brett Phipps and wife Sarah of Columbia, MO; mother Loretta Phipps of Iowa; 3 brothers, Keith Phipps and wife Marie, Jack Phipps and wife Pat, Emil Phipps and wife Rosetta; mother-in-law, Irene Snyder; 3 sister-in-laws, Shirley Novinger and husband Eugene, Marilyn Riley and husband Jim, Brenda Swisher and husband Ken; and several nieces and nephews.
