Manola Pierce

Manola Jane (Whitman) Pierce, 93, of Independence, MO peacefully passed away Friday, February 3, 2012. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Monday, February 6, 2012 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 2400 Troost Ave., Suite 4300, Kansas City, MO 64108. Manola was born September 11, 1918 in Forest Lake, MN to Ray and Minnie (Meisker) Whitman. She graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1936. Manola was united in marriage to Kenton D. Pierce on January 15, 1938. Mrs. Pierce was a faithful member of the Blue Ridge Congregation of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Manola is survived by her son Donald Pierce and wife Jane, daughter Barbara Taylor and husband Ken; grandchildren Dr. Kristy Pierce Bishop and husband Ed, Kenton Pierce and wife Lelia, Karl Pierce and wife Carole; six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenton; daughter Janet Pierce; and three sisters and one brother. The family wishes to thank the Groves Community Hospice for their excellent love and care.
