Robert W. Pine, of Independence, MO. passed away at Research Medical Center on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006. Services will be 10 am, Sat., Feb. 11, 2006 at Carson-Speaks Chapel. Interment with full Military Honors will be 1 pm, Sat. at Holden Cemetery, Holden, MO. Visitation will be 6 - 8 pm, Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggest contributions to the Holden VFW or Christ United Methodist Church, Independence, MO. Robert was born on Aug. 19, 1922, to William & Lydia (Adams) Pine of Centerview, MO. He served in WWII in the 202nd Combat Engineers. He worked 31 years at General Motors Leeds Plant, retiring in 1981. He was a proud member of UAW Local 93, VFW Post #1000, and a member of Christ United Methodist Church. Although his health had prevented a lot of activities, his faith in God prevailed to the end, and sustained him through this last illness. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters Emma Mapes and Nellie Geary. He was married Nov. 28, 1959 to Dorothy (Humphries), who survives of the home. He also leaves his daughter, Juliana of Niwat, CO; niece Patsy Roberts, Holden, MO; nephew, Jerry Magee, Lodi, CA, sister Helen Brown, Lodi, CA; and several cousins and countless friends. A special thanks goes to Dr. Stephen Scherer and the I.C.U. Staff at Research Medical Center that tried so hard to save Bob.
