Carlos B. Pinon, 86, of Independence, MO, entered his heavenly home at his house, surrounded by his loved ones, on Saturday, June 15, 2019. A rosary and visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Friday, June 21, 2019 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington, Independence, MO 64050. A mass will be held Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 11am at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church, 10021 E 36th Ter S, Independence, MO 64055. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, 701 S Noland Rd, Independence, MO 64055. Carlos B. Pinon was born on July 16, 1932 in the house that his father built out of adobe in Eagle Pass, TX. He was one of seven children born to Nemecio and Oralia Pinon. As a child, he would often assist his father doing odd jobs and working in the fields. He attended Eagle Pass High School and was drafted into the army in 1955. He served in the Korean War. During his active duty service, he had the opportunity to travel to France, Germany and Switzerland. It was during this time he had the opportunity to assist in the production of the movie, “Kings Go Forth”. Starring Frank Sinatra and Natalie Wood. Carlos was honorably discharged in 1958 and after traveling around the United States, he settled in Independence, near family. It is here he met and married his beautiful wife, Eva Perez and the pair had three children. Carlos worked as a machine operator, heavy equipment operator and a refrigeration specialist. He worked at a variety of places including, Missouri Portland Cement Company, Holsum Foods, Lipton, and Shedd’s Foods, before retiring from Van den Berg Foods. Carlos had a love of baseball from a very young age. As a teenager, his team were Eagle Pass State Champions and he continued playing into his adult life. He loved the Royals and never missed a game. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. His faith was very important to him and he was a member of Nativity of Mary in Independence, MO. Carlos had a lifelong pride in serving his country and proudly participated in the Honor Flight where he got to visit Washington DC with other veterans and be honored for his service. Carlos was also proud of his Texas heritage and liked to reminisce about the places he remembered fondly. Recently, he was able to take a trip to Texas where he shared with his daughters his memories of growing up in the land he loved so much. Carlos is survived by children, Marie Angela Pinion-Hair and husband, Larry, Carlos J. Pinon and wife, Maria, and Maria Teresa Pinon and husband, Anthony Ippolito; grandchildren, James and Christine Scovil, Danielle Pinon, Christina Craig, Maria Reynolds-Royals and husband, James, Anna Marie Pinon, and Eva Ippolito; two step grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a brother, Cruz Pinon; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Carlos is preceded in death by his wife, Eva; parents, Nemecio and Oralia Pinon; and siblings, Enedina P. Yzquierdo, Nieves O. Pinon, Gilberto B. Pinon, Esperanza P. Trevino, Louis B. Pinon.
