Donna K. Piranio, 65, Oak Grove, MO died unexpectedly Nov. 1, 2010 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Memorial services will be held at 6:30 pm, Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO; cremation. Visitation will begin after the service until 8: 30 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to The Humane Society of Greater Kansas City, 5445 Parallel Pkwy, K.C., KS 66104-3047 or St. Mary’s Medical Center Foundation, 201 N.W. RD Mize Rd., Blue Springs, MO 64014.
Donna was born Dec. 23 1944 to Vernon and Sarah Roach and was raised on a farm outside of Holden, MO. She worked at Western Electric (later AT & T) in Lee’s Summit for thirty-three years and retired in 1997. She was a member of the Kansas City Retrievers Club.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents. She leaves behind her loving husband and best friend of twenty years, Anthony Piranio; daughter Julie Durst and husband Scott; grandchildren Sophie and Kenny. She was a loving step-mother to Sheryl Howard and husband Larry; and to Connie Jo Carcione and husband Rick. She also had seven step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. She leaves her brother Larry Roach and wife Carolyn and their family, Aunt Joyce, many cousins and many friends who will miss her greatly. Donna was proud mother of her four-legged children Maggie, Big Al and Rocky.
Donna had been ill for the past several years and put up a hell of a fight. This last illness was very quick and sudden. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Mary’s Medical Center and the Infusion Unit. A very special thank you to Sister Ann for being a strong support for Donna’s family.
