John F. Pirog, 90, of Independence, passed away January 26, 2017.
Visitation will be 10 to 11 am, Wednesday, Feb. 1, at Nativity Catholic Church, 10017 E 36th Terr, Indep, followed by mass at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Nativity Church or KC Hospice.
John was born December 15, 1926, to Stanley and Sophie Pirogowicz, in Sioux City, Iowa. He graduated from Manual High School in 1944 and received a BS degree in Business Administration from Rockhurst College in 1975. He served in the Armed Forces during World War II and then worked 35 years for the US Postal Service, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus, and the Editor of the Transit News.
John is preceded in death by his wife, Celine (Toman) Pirog, his brother, Ed Pirog, and his sister, Bernice Rogers.
He is survived by his daughters, Michele Perrin, Janet Harrison, Karen Pirog, and Teresa Pirog; by his grandchildren, Brian Perrin, Michael Bramel, Melissa Taylor, and Courtney Perrin; and by his great-grandchildren, Violet Taylor and Lincoln Taylor.
