Donald Ray Player, 67 of Independence, MO passed away Sunday, October 8, 2017. Cremation is planned and a memorial service will be 6:00 p.m., Thursday October 12, 2017 at the Masonic Lodge 120 S. Pleasant St. Independence, MO 64050. Don was born December 15, 1949 in Pasco, WA to Earl Emmett and Bernice (Hinkel) Player and graduated from Truman High School in 1967. He had worked for over 30 years as a millwright for the Steelworkers Union Local #1529 before he retired. He enjoyed fishing and was an awesome Grandpa to his grandchildren he loved cooking and playing games with his granddaughter. Golfing and watching sports with his grandson and son in law. He was a member of the Community of Christ. Survivors include; a daughter, Laura Melissa Drose and husband Patrick and their children, Gavin and Saylor Drose all of Fayetteville, NC; 4 sisters, Carol Ann Steele and husband Duane of Lee’s Summit, MO, Anna Marie Jennings and husband Ronald of Independence, MO, Sharon Lee Amato and husband Leo of Grain Valley, MO and Irene Laverne Player of Independence, MO and a brother, Earl Emmett Player of Independence, MO.
