Lena was born February 5, 1921 in Peculiar, MO to Nazio and Josephine (Ropollo) Giocondo. During her life she brought such joy to all she met. She never hesitated to sacrifice in order to bring happiness to others. Lena was an amazing mom, grandma, nani and great nani, and was always there for all of us. She was a homemaker most of her life, which fit her perfectly. She was such a great cook. The love she showed to others was unending. She was passionate about playing bridge, and was an excellent player. She volunteered at Sycamore Hills Elementary at their summer day care, in which the kids loved her. She also enjoyed watching her grandkids and great grandkids. She was loved by everyone. We will miss her dearly, but she left us with so many wonderful memories. You are my sunshine! I love you a bushel and a peck! Lena was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 40 years, Philip Polito; brother, Christopher Giocondo; three sisters, Prudence Canova, Ann Anello, Josephine Korn; and son-in-law, Scott Workman. She is survived by her two children, James Polito and Patricia Workman; three grandchildren, Elaine Bassett (Greg), Philip Mathis, Chad Mathis; and five great grandchildren, Alynna Hough, Ryan Hough, Harper Mathis, Everett Mathis and Violet Matthis.
