Deena Marie Pope (Hubbard)

October 1, 1962 — January 31, 2018

Deena Marie (Hubbard) Pope, age 55, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on January 31, 2018 from brain cancer. Her husband, children, grandchildren, parents and brother were surrounding her in her home as she left for heaven. Visitation will begin at 2 pm, followed by a Memorial Service at 3 pm on February 10, 2018 at Highlands Community of Christ church - 7615 N. Platte Purchase Drive, Kansas City, Missouri. Deena was born on October 1, 1962 in Cherokee, Oklahoma to Dean and Sandra Hubbard. She was a graduate of Burlington High School in Oklahoma and received her Bachelor’s Degree from Park College in Parkville Missouri. She worked for Bank of America. Deena enjoyed basketball, tennis, traveling, movies, feeding and watching birds (along with the occasional raccoon and squirrels that raided the bird feeders) at her home and being with her husband and family. She was a member of the Community of Christ church. She was a strong woman, full of life, laughter and joy and would do anything she could to help others. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend. Her most favorite season of the year was Christmas. She enjoyed the specialness of the season, a spirit of giving, loving, peace and hope, which exemplified her life. Deena is survived by her husband Philip Pope, her children Nicklaus Hannigan, of Kansas City, Amber Hannigan, of Kansas City, Andrea Sowers and her husband Jesse of St. Louis Missouri and Lauren Pope, of Kansas City, her grandchildren, Johnathan, Aria and Aleksander, parents Dean and Sandra Hubbard of Independence, brother Daryl Hubbard of Kansas City, niece Whitney Hubbard of Kansas City and nephew Kyle Hubbard of Boston.
