Charles Potter

Charles Cecil Potter, 74, formerly of Independence, MO passed away Sunday, May 20, 2012 in Pearsall, TX.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055. A Celebration of Charles’s Life will be at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Shriner’s Children Hospital.

Charles was born January 26, 1937 in Fairfield, IL the son of Clarence W. and Bessie (Courtwright) Potter. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. Charles had worked for TWA as an aircraft mechanic and retired from Jack Cooper Transport after 35 years of service. He maintained and actively used his aircraft and engine mechanic license helping out friends. He also had his pilot’s license and was IFR certified. Charles was a member of the Shriners and the Masonic Lodge. For the last 12 years he enjoyed traveling with his wife in the southern states. They spent six years in St. Augustine, FL where he worked as a trolley driver, giving historic tours of the city.

Charles is survived by his loving wife, Roberta Potter of 56 years; daughter, Christine Potter; sons Charles David Potter and Kenneth R. Potter; grandchildren, Ashley Riley, Jeremy Potter, and Kellen Potter; and brother, Richard Potter. He was preceded in death by his parents.
