Wilson “Jim” Gene Potter, 75 of Independence passed away Fri. Jun 22, 2007 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Services will be 10:00 am Wed. Jun 27, 2007 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St. Indep. MO. Visitation will be held from 7 �" 8:30 pm Tuesday at the chapel. Graveside services will be 1:30 pm Wednesday at Wharton Cemetery; Bosworth, MO. Contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Optimist Club. Jim was born on Feb 1, 1932 to John and Stella Potter in Bosworth, MO. He had been a truck driver for McLeen Trucking for many years. Antiquing was Jim’s life. He owned and operated the 40 highway antique mall before building and operating the Country Meadows Antique Mall, which was listed as the world’s largest antique mall in the Midwest. He had been a member of the Optimist club for many years and was a proud Navy veteran. Jim was a member of Sycamore Hills Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley in 1995. He is survived by a daughter, Gina Renee Allen of Jacksonville, Fl. Three brothers, Charles Potter, Homer Potter and William Potter, all of Independence, MO. Three sisters, Dorothy Groosman of Bosworth, MO, Mary Ann Emmett of Independence, MO and Sue Harden of Carrollton, MO. Three grandchildren, Alissa Nicole Hemphill, Danny Wayne Allen and Danielle Dawn Allen. Four great grandchildren, Courtney, Katylin, Kara and Cameron and by his very special companion, Linda Smith of Independence, MO.
