Michael E. Pozun-Hart, 49, of Kansas City, MO. passed away mid Friday morning, December 4th at Centerpoint Medical Center, after a brief but intense battle with pneumonia.
Michael was a loving husband and a devoted father to his grandson who proudly called him "daddy". Born October eighteenth, 1966 in Kansas City, Missouri, Michael grew up in an environment of adversity that would have broken many people. Instead, he was able to overcome those challenges with dignity, strength and a sense of humor he was known and loved for. Never bitter, he saw the good in everyone and everything.
Before becoming physically disabled, Michael worked as an upholsterer at Fixtures Furniture in Kansas City, Missouri. Later, Michael became politically active; he founded a grass roots effort for mayoral recall, volunteered for The Coalition Against Child Pornography and The American Foundation For Aids Research. He worked with the KCPD and FBI on key investigations and made friends from homeless people to D.C. politicians, all with an eighth grade education. He was a history buff and especially loved researching and recounting facts about the American Wars and the history and development of his hometown, Kansas City.
Michael leaves behind his husband of 24 years, Michael P. Pozun-Hart, and his son the apple of his eye, Darrel Jayden Fox of the home . His daughter Christina Murphy of Wichita, Kansas, brother Joseph Thomas of Fort Scott, Kansas, sisters Pam Stanley of Kansas City, Missouri, Mariah Vargas-Garcia (Leo Vargas-Garcia) of Lola, Kansas, Velvey Hackett, Brandi Murray (Chuck Murray) of Columbia, Missouri and many other family members and friends who rallied around Michael, and his husband and son during his illness and other challenges of his life. He is preceded in death by beloved Grandparents, Velvey and Mabel Harris, sister Mary Larrabee, and niece Shara Begulia all of Kansas City, Missouri.
Services are to be held Saturday, December, 12th at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E 39th St S, Independence, MO 64055. Visitation begins at 2:00 pm with memorial service beginning at 3:30.
