Charles R. Price, 84, passed away at his home in Independence, MO on February 10, 2014. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, February 14 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 15 at the chapel. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Home Cemetery, Tarkio, MO.
Charles was born on March 16, 1929 in Tarkio, MO. He served in the United States Army from 1950 - 1952. After returning from the Korean Conflict he met the love of his life, Margaret E. Brandon and they married on March 16, 1953. Charles began his career in education in 1957 after obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Northwest Missouri State. He went on to earn a Master’s Degree and Certificate in Administration from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. He retired from The Independence School District in 1989 ending his 32 year career in education. Charles Leaves his wife of 59 years, Margaret E. Price; daughters, Carletta “Carley” Arnold and husband Ted of Independence, MO; and Sherie D. Cowan and husband Michael of Lomita, CA; granddaughter, Rachel L. Matthews and husband Brian of Sugar Creek, MO; grandsons, Matthew Green of Lomita, CA; and Seth Green of Georgia; six great grandchildren, Brian, Lincoln, and Celestine Matthews, Elijah Mikayla and Kayden Green. Charles was preceded in death by his parents John Thomas and Mittie (Bushong) Price; grandson, Brandon Charles Arnold; sisters, Wanda Price and Alpha Sheets; brothers, Edward and Ralph Price.
