Dennis Earl Price of Independence, Missouri, passed away quietly on June 26, 2020.
The son of Alfred Fitzgerald (Gerald) Price and Elsie Mae (Widel) Price, Dennis was born on October 11, 1943. The family lived in Blackwater, Missouri, and Dennis attended nearby Nelson High School, graduating in 1961. He enjoyed playing basketball and formed lifelong friendships in high school.
After graduation, he joined the Navy and served as an EMS 3. He left the Navy in 1965 and began an apprenticeship in sheet metal, becoming a member of Sheet Metal Workers #2. He worked in commercial heating and air conditioning, retiring from the Fagan Company.
Dennis was a life-long member of the Church of Christ and served 39th Street Church of Christ as a deacon. The many friends from the congregation who supported him through his illness are evidence of the deep bonds he formed there.
Dennis enjoyed informal golf outings on his brother’s farm, and putting together puzzles or playing games with family and friends. He also enjoyed restoring old cars and was a member of the Heart of America Chapter of the Studebaker Drivers Club. In retirement, he generously put his excellent carpentry skills to use on projects for family and friends.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Barbara (Wells) Price, daughter Monica (Price) Ernberger, sons Bradley and Kenneth Price, grandson Michael Ernberger, brother Charlie Price (Pat), sister Bonnie Hannel (Rodger), and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
A public walk-through visitation will be held on Friday, July 3, from 4-5pm, at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St. in Independence. Due to Covid-19 concerns, the family requires that all guests wear a mask and that directional placards are followed. A private memorial service will be videorecorded and then uploaded to Dennis' page following the visitation.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society or St. Luke’s Hospice House are invited.
