Dr. Richard D. Price, 60, Independence, passed away Wednesday July 9, 2003 at Research Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday July 12, 2003 at Bethel Baptist Church, burial Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Speaks Suburban Chapel. The family suggests contributions to Bethel Baptist Mission Fund, 2406 S. M-291, Independence, MO 64057. Dr. Price was born February 26, 1943 in Waterford, CT. He married his wife, Alfreda, June 20, 1965. Richard served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He completed his undergraduate work at Clear Creek Baptist School and Piedmont College. After receiving his Bachelors Degree, he attended seminary and received his Masters and his Doctorate in Marriage Counseling, from Midwestern Seminary. Dr. Price was the pastor at Bethel Baptist Church. He served as the President of the Pastor�s Conference at the Missouri Southern Baptist Convention; Chairman of the Nominating Committee for the Missouri Southern Baptist Convention, and was the Chairman of the Credential Committee for the National Southern Baptist Convention. Dr. Price also served as a chaplain for the Medical Center of Independence and Regional Medical Center. He is preceded in death by his step-father Malcolm Scott Smith. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Alfreda Price, of the home; his mother Virginia Smith, Waterford, CT.; his daughter, Kim Petty and her husband John, Smithville, MO; his son Dennis Price, and his wife Sherry, Lee�s Summit, MO; two sisters Elizabeth Bramhall, Feeding Hills, MA; Deborah Kuhl, Waterford, CT.; one brother Scott Smith, CT; five grandsons Joshua Petty, Smithville, MO; Aaron Petty, Smithville, MO.; Cameron Price, Lee�s Summit, MO; Nathan Petty Smithville, MO; Adam Petty, Smithville, MO.; and numerous family and friends.
