Lillian Price, 91, of Independence, MO passed away peacefully Thursday, August 6, 2009 at Centerpoint Medical Center surrounded by her family. A visitation will be from 9-10:00 AM Monday, Aug. 10 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, with services to begin at 10:00 AM. Graveside services will be at 12:00 Noon at Greenton Cemetery north of Odessa. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Bethel Baptist Church, 2406 S 291 Hwy, Independence, MO 64055.
Lillian was born Oct. 24, 1917 in Odessa, MO to Luther and Nellie (Kite) Colvin. She graduated from high school and married Victor Price in 1936. Lillian worked for the civil service while she and Vic lived in California and after returning to the Kansas City area in 1952 she later began to volunteer for various organizations including MCI for over 35 years and the Cerebral Palsy Association for 15 years, where she was also a dedicated board member. Lillian was a charter member of the Bethel Baptist Church and remained active throughout the years. She was family focused and in her spare time she enjoyed gardening.
Lillian was preceded in death by her husband Victor Price, grandson Thomas Matthew Price, and granddaughter Tanya Price. She is survived by two sons: Gregory Price and wife Jean and Kenton Price; three grandchildren: Stacey Spenz and husband Mark, Ann Price and husband Ignacio Tortajada, and Rebecca Haney and husband Joe; five great-grandchildren: Mia and Jordan Sprenz, Lillian and Julia Haney, and Elisa Tortajada; sister-in-law Eileen Colvin; and a host of extended family and friends.
