Steven “Metro” Provance, 67, of Kansas City, MO passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2017. A visitation will be held from 1-3pm on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St, Independence, MO, 64055.
Steve was born on April 11, 1950 in Kansas City, MO to James and Laveta (Gaines) Provance. He worked 33 years driving a city bus for the KC Metro, retiring in January 2012 with a perfect driving record. He enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams: the Chiefs and Royals, but loved spending time with his family and cooking. Steve could grill the best holiday ham. After his retirement he came to enjoy traveling to Texas, Mexico and Puerto Rico with family, spending time at the Bigger Jigger with his friends, and staying at the family owned Irish Hills Resort at Lake of the Ozarks. Steve was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Chapter 2414 since 1993.
He will be remembered by his daughters Rhonda Provance Taylor of Kansas City, MO, Shelly Provance Edwards and husband Buddy of Oak Grove, MO; companion Sonja Triggs; step-mother Carol Cox; grandchildren Miranda Fitzpatrick, Sabrina Hicks, Jacob Taylor, Allyssa Fitzpatrick; step-grandchildren Chris Edwards, Layne Edwards, Chelsea Edwards; 2 sisters Lori Provance Doyle, and Christina Provance Garza and husband Paul; step-sisters Diana Smith and Joy, plus numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother David Provance and step-brothers Gary Triggs and Larry Triggs.
