Elma Pearl Rains (Tillery)

Elma Rains, 93, of Kansas City, MO passed away December 10, 2015. A visitation will be held from 1-2:00 p.m. followed by a 2:00 p.m. service on Wednesday, December 16, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Burial will be held at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Elma was born September 3, 1922 in Humansville, MO to Alfred and Myrtie (Stephenson) Tillery. She and her husband Francis were long time members of Skyline Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting, reading, watching the Lawrence Welk Show and baking birthday cakes for family members. She also was an instrumental member of the “Know Your Neighbor Club”, many years ago. She will be remembered as a generous woman who worked as a volunteer at the Salvation Army Food Pantry. Elma was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Francis Oren Rains. She is survived by her four children, David Rains (Donna), Danny Rains (Sharon), Sandra Cannon (Todd Grauberger), and Larry Rains; nine grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
