Loren N. Rains, of Independence, MO died Monday, October 15, 2012 at The Missouri Veterans Home, in Cameron MO. A Visitation will be held from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 19, 2012 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Services will follow at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel. Burial at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens with full Military Honors, Independence, MO. Loren was born May 7, 1920 in Dunnegan, MO to Elmer and Cora (Estes) Rains. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII and Korea, and retired from the 325th General Hospital U.S. Army Reserve. Loren was also a member of Moose Lodge #2414, Eagles Lodge Aerie #385, American Legion Post #21, Kansas City Shriner’s, Masonic Lodge #618, and VFW #1000. He was part of the Glenwood Park Methodist Church Community for over 50 years. Loren’s wife, Nadine Rains preceded him in death in 2008, along with infant son Michael Rains, in 1957. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Marvin and Burl Rains. Loren is survived by daughters, Linda Travers (John), and Neila Crist (Don); grandchildren Ricky Dreher (Lana), Johnny Travers (Lori) and Janet Dover (Bobby); eight great-grandchildren; brother, Francis Rains (Pearl); sisters Nellie Hamby, and Arlene Houston; and a host of other relatives and friends.
