Alan Frederick Ralston, 76, of Independence, Missouri, passed away December 20, 2020, at the Cameron Regional Hospital.
Alan was born on February 20, 1944 in Berkeley, California, but lived most of his life in Independence, Missouri. He graduated from Willian Chrisman High School in 1963. Although he spent his last few years as a resident of Nick’s Health Care Center in Plattsburg, Missouri, he still considered Independence as his home.
Over the course of his lifetime Alan held several jobs, with most recent as parts delivery for O’Reilly Auto Parts in Independence. However, his life’s focus was centered on his work with the Boy Scouts of America. This included his induction into the honorary Tribe of Mic-0-Say where he earned the rank of Sachem. He volunteered countless hours in serving as District Commissioner. He was involved with planning and supervision of various district camps and rallies. He was also involved in a variety of training programs for leaders and boys. This was truly his passion.
He was an active member in the Community of Christ Church and held the office of Deacon. He was a member of the South Crysler congregation and later the Liberty Street congregation. Alan was preceded in death by his sister, Lynn Rae in 1952, his father, Russell Ralston in 2001 and his mother, Florence Ralston in 2004. His is survived by his two brothers and their spouses, David and Jan Ralston of Independence, Missouri, and Jon and Lisa Ralston of Land-0-Lakes Florida. He also has five nieces and nephews.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private graveside service will be held for family and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
He will be laid to rest at Mound Grove Cemetery in Independence, MO.
