Clyde E. Raps, 94, of Independence, MO passed away July 5, 2016. Visitation will be on Friday, July 8, 2016 from 10-11:00 am at Mt. Washington United Methodist Church, 584 S. Arlington Ave, Independence, MO. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am at the church. Clyde will be laid to rest at Mt. Washington Mausoleum next to his loving wife for over 65 years, Ruth I. Raps. Clyde was born on October 2, 1921 in Rich Hill, MO to Edward and Luella (Griffin) Raps. He graduated from Rich Hill High School. Clyde was a veteran of both the United States Coast Guard, serving in WWII, and then the Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Bendix with over 20 years of service. Clyde along with his wife enjoyed their camping club, where they were members for over 20 years. They looked forward to the monthly camping trips. They also like to winter in Texas. Clyde had been a devoted member of the Mt. Washington United Methodist Church for many years. Survivors include; daughter Nyla Reynolds; son Gary Raps; grandson Jeff Reynolds (Christine); granddaughter Kerry Pittsenbarger (Gary); 6 great grandchildren, and a large extended family. Clyde is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Helen Randolph & Letha Thomas, brothers Glenn Rapps, Paul Raps, & Roy Raps, and son in law Earl Reynolds. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
