Ruth I. Raps, 89, of Independence, MO passed away October 18, 2012. A visitation will be held from 9-10:00 a.m. followed by a 10:00 a.m. service Monday, October 22, at the Mt. Washington United Methodist Church. Burial will be held at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation. Ruth was born April 23, 1923 in Metz, MO to Harry and Edith Pryor. On November 9, 1946, she was united in marriage with Clyde Raps in Olathe, KS. She was a devoted member of Mt. Washington United Methodist Church. Ruth and Clyde operated Raps Telephone Exchange in the home, for eight years, which then became KLM Telephone Service, where she worked for another year. She then went to work for Montgomery Ward, where she retired after 20 years. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Gladys Lambs; two brothers, Clifton and Owen Pryor; and son-in-law, Earl Reynolds. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Clyde Raps; one daughter, Nyla Reynolds of Warrensburg, MO; one son, Gary Raps and wife Audrey of Independence, MO; two grandchildren, Jeff Reynolds and wife Christine and Kerry Pittsenbarger and husband Gary; as well as four great grandchildren.
