Ethel Marie Raynes (Garrett)

Ethel Marie Raynes, age 79 of Independence, MO, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Carmel Hills Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. A visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00am on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Carson-Speaks Chapel. A memorial service will follow at 10:00am. Burial is at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Ethel was born February 26, 1935 in Independence, MO to Thomas and Elsie (Cox) Garrett. On July 15, 1956 she married the love of her live, Robert Vernon Raynes. Together they have been lifelong residents of Independence. Ethel was a dedicated wife, homemaker and mother. Over the years she also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, camping, and just spending quality time with her family. Other interests included music, TV dramas and talking politics. She is survived by: her husband Robert; a daughter Vernadean; a daughter Diana and husband Ray of Independence; a daughter Lorie and husband Mark of Olathe, KS; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and 1 sister Loetta Donnici. She is preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters Martha Raynes and Charlene Hamilton, and 1 brother Robert Garrett.
